driven by the spirit of the ocean
We produce and/or co-produce films highlighting the ocean, a fascinating universe of existence whose power of enchantment transforms us. Through our productions, we support awareness-raising initiatives and we promote positive actions intended to preserve marine biodiversity.
Meet Jean-Charles Granjon, Founder of Bluearth Production
Producer / Film director / DOP / Founder of Bluearth
Jean-Charles Granjon forms a deep artistic relationship with the ocean. A professional diver for nearly 30 years, he explores several narrative forms, ranging from the novel (Initiation Pacifique, éditions Véga – Guy Trédaniel) to the experimental short film (Impact – 1st vertical film shot in slow motion and underwater). This oceanic artistic relationship then led him to direct and produce 4 feature-length documentaries distributed in France and internationally (Te Vaanui, the Odyssey of Ismaël, The Blue Bubble, The Quest for the Savage, Silence in the Mediterranean).
As a cinematographer specializing in marine and underwater images, he is responsible for the photography of numerous French and international documentary films.
After a career as an underwater cinematographer, he created Bluearth production in 2011 to share his holistic approach to underwater images with the film industry. Via Bluearth, he directs photography and carries out marine executive production and marine coordination for numerous commercials, films and fiction series. In his last years he also led the executive and delegated production of numerous documentary films shot in all the oceans of the world.
